As a senior at Kelley, I study Finance and Accounting with a co-major in Law, Ethics & Decision-Making because I'm interested in the point where analytical thinking, judgment, and responsibility come together. I'm drawn to problems that require critical thinking, as I like understanding how a decision works, whom it affects, and how it could be made better.
Outside the classroom, I've tried to put that mindset into practice by preparing free tax returns through the IRS VITA program, fundraising through Greek life, mentoring younger Kelley students, and building AI tools to improve processes and help individuals navigate through this pivotal moment. Across all of those experiences, I've found that I enjoy learning quickly, working with different kinds of people, and turning ideas into something useful.
A lot of that curiosity comes from how I grew up. I was born in Brazil, but when I was three, my family moved to South Florida in search of safety from gang violence. Growing up at the intersection of Brazilian, Italian, and American cultures, I was surrounded by Brazilian and Italian traditions at home, while school and my friends gave me a distinctly American upbringing. Spending a year in Italy during eighth grade brought me even closer to my Italian roots. Growing up between these three cultures taught me to feel comfortable in different environments and to appreciate the different perspectives people bring with them.
Going forward, I'm motivated by the possibility of improvement. If there's something I don't understand, I want to make sure I learn it. If there's a process that could be better, I want to try to make the best version of it.
